The Women's Ministry of St. David's United Church of Christ is composed of 2 subgroups: Sisters in Christ and The Marketeers.
Sisters in Christ Women's Group
Sisters in Christ (formerly known as Fireside Friends) of St. David's United Church of Christ is a Women's group which meets several times a year to share in fellowship events and to participate in activities enhancing their personal faith growth. Some of our previous activities have included devotional book studies, bus trips to Sight and Sound, Annual Church Women's Retreat, attending the Extraordinary Women Conference in Hershey, Christmas Dinner at The Olive Garden, and sponsoring the Perfect Peace Women's Conference at St. David's in 2025.
Our events are announced at church, on the church's Facebook page, the church's website (www.stdavidsucc.com) and St. David's Monthly Newsletter.
Sisters in Christ welcomes any woman to join with us in our activities, whether she is a member or friend of St. David's UCC. The only requirement for membership is that the woman must be seeking friendship, support, spiritual growth, and encouragement. Also, she must be willing and ready to laugh with and unconditionally love her sisters in Christ!
The Marketeers
The Marketeers is a group of women who organize 2 fundraising markets each year: the Spring/Plant Market and the Fall/Christmas Market. These markets raise much needed funds to support missions, primarily the church's "Caring For Our Own" account which provides emergency funds to members and friends of the congregation who are going through a tough financial spot in their lives. In 2024 the church provided over $16000 in financial assistance from this fund to people in need, so you can see these markets are a valuable mission and outreach endeavor that The Marketeers are extremely passionate about. Interested women can help prior to market days by organizing, sprucing up, and pricing donations or by preparing homemade baked goods and soups to sell. On the actual days when each Market occurs, they can assist by cashiering or merchandising. The only requirement for participation in this group is willingness to be a hard worker with a heart for mission fundraising.

On April 23, the Fireside Friends met at the home of Aleshia Hawkins to make homemade soaps and bath bombs which were sold on May 1 for Mother's Day gifts. Our Soaps, Bath Bombs, & Sachets sales totaled $201. We want to thank everyone for supporting our fundraiser.

At the Fireside Friends meeting today at St. David's UCC, Dorothy Kerst shared many craft ideas and the group discussed ways in which Fireside Friends could provide for the less fortunate. Fireside friends now have their own Facebook group page, as well.
